Remember kids...clear as much snows and ices from your car as possible. (I understand if you have a box van you’re not going on the roof)....but seriously glad this guy got what he deserved. Except that the officer cleared it. If I was that officer I woulda made grandpa do it himself.

Hang on, what?

Isn’t the whole idea that snow/ice on your car is dangerous? This applies whether or not you own a van. If you bought a big car, it’s your responsibility to get on that big car and clean the ice. It’ll be harder than a small car, just like how washing and parking is harder than a small car. It’s the price you pay, but you have to pay it.

This is like people who argue that old people shouldn’t need to be re-tested because they have places to be. If they’re not safe on the roads, they should be banned. Whether you can justify how unsafe they are is irrelevant.

A while back I was watching all of those 60's driver’s ed videos where they show horrendous accidents, and there was one of a driver who scraped off about a 4" square of ice from the windshield. Somehow they also managed to run themselves over and half their body was stuck in a front fender. I can’t remember the explanation given in the film, and still can’t imagine the chain of events, but obviously, not clearing your windshield + not wearing a seat belt, results in carnage.

Nah. In my esteemed opinion, the chance of the driver falling off and killing himself without equipment is far greater than the chance they face of killing someone on the highway through losing snows and ices. Broken windshields, while annoying as fuck, are not death.
